What's Your Feng Shui Color?

You are a calm and content person. You find that the key to life is easy... just be yourself!
You believe in the importance of letting go. You release your anxieties and welcome renewal.

You are a generous person, and you look for the best of people. You promote peace and trust.
You value intellect and experience. Unlike most people, you truly respect your elders.

I'm blue, da-ba-dee, da-ba-daa... Oh, not that kind of blue, right.

This is a classic case of what-is vs. what-should-be. I'm not serene and peaceful, I just aspire to that. One day I will let go and find release.

The bit about elders is spot-on already, though. I look ahead to my own cronehood (which is, most probably only 10-12 years away) and get more and more determined to be an example of wisdom - if not of conventional propriety - to those younger, and as a direct consequence, I look ahead to others to identify with. I blame it all on Lilith, who gifted me Women Who Run With the Wolves and made me redefine myself. Clarissa Pinkola Estés rocks so much that I'd have to import a quarry to meet with the demand.

What Herbal Tea Are You?

You are a warm and friendly person. You have a compassionate heart, and it shows.
You are naturally sweet and kind. Your spirit of generosity is far reaching.

You love to be cozy and comfortable. You are a natural homebody.
And while you like to be at home, you're not a hermit. You love it when your friends make themselves at home at your place.

I love herbal teas. I grew up on 'mountain tea', only finding out as an adult that it's not tea, as in Camellia sinensis, at all. I like classic tea, fruit-flavoured black teas and/or tea-free fruit infusions. A couple of months ago I discovered a wonderfully light blend, Twinings Morning Detox, which combines lemon, limeflowers, milk thistle, and lemon verbena. For a time, I had it first thing in the morning, before coffee, and on occasion I'd even forget to have coffee afterwards. For someone as chronically sleep-deprived and sluggish in the morning as myself, that says a lot.

I have never had apple cinnamon tea, though. I think I got a box of instant mix for it, from a certain health food store I raid every time I visit with the Northern contingent, and then forgot about it for so long that it went past its usable date. Isn't that the stuff they serve in Turkish baths before you leave? (In Turkey, not the reconstructions in the West.) Definitely eager to try it, seeing as both apple and cinnamon are among my favourite flavours. I don't see how I could fail to like it.

Whether I am the way the quiz suggests is open to interpretation. The homebody part hits the bullseye, though.

What Color Bug Are You?

You are an imaginative and whimsical person. You're living on your own planet, and what a glorious planet it is!
You have a totally magnetic personality, and you are definitely a bit of a flirt.

You are playful and lighthearted. You try not to take life all that seriously.
You are a big dreamer, and you're always thinking of new possibilities. However, you sometimes tend to have unrealistic expectations.

I should stop taking quizzes on subjects I know I don't like (as opposed to not knowing yet). As a dedicated 2CV fan, I hate Beetles, and pink is the second worst colour for a car of any make - the absolute worst being lime green. So nyah. I don't even want to think I'm such a hippie as it suggests!

What Kind of Scarf Are You?

You are a smart and sensible person. You plan for the future and always try to be prepared.
You have a great sense of style, but you never sacrifice comfort or function. Your scarf needs to look good and keep you warm!

You know how to take care of yourself. You find comfort easily, and you are good at comforting others.
You are streamlined and efficient. You are very productive. You know how to cut the junk out of your life.

Baby, it's cold out there... We're expecting snow any day now, so a wool scarf is necessary, as well as a wool scarf personality (and my mohair shrug). Warmth and comfort mean the world to me; I tend to miss not having a fire when it snows, but the rest of the shebang - blankets, soup, hot drinks - can do as well. Now, to finish this novel so I can go back to reading other people's words... I'm tiiiired!

What's Your Grown-Up Stereotype?

You are a thoughtful person who could also be described as downright intellectual.
You enjoy spending time by yourself, and this leads to a lot of thinking.

You tend to have a few close friends instead of lots of acquaintances. Your bonds with your friends are strong.
While you may not be outgoing, you are a great conversationalist. You have many interests and as a result, many things to talk about.

At first I didn't understand what this quiz was about, and went on and did it anyway, out of curiosity. Once the result loaded, it had me going, 'oooohh, so that's what it's all about'. Grown-up stereotype as opposed to childhood/teen stereotype, geddit?

It doesn't take much thought, even for someone who doesn't know me personally, to know that it's accurate - all one needs to do is review this series of quizzes. According to the Myers-Briggs test, I'm INFJ, a true introvert; that is, one who appreciates solitude without mutating it to loneliness and without becoming antisocial. Now, if only I could find some space and time to be really alone and enjoy it...

What Kind of Apple Are You?

You have a glow to you, and you are naturally attractive. You know how to highlight your good points.
Beneath that shining exterior is a sensitive soul. You are more thin skinned that people realize.

You prefer others to be gentle with you. You need to be handled with care.
You may be fragile, but you're also tough deep down. You're firm enough to stand up for what you believe in.

And here I thought I'd turn out mouth-puckeringly tart like a Granny Smith. I don't really care much for Golden Delicious. I've never thought they had much flavour, pretty as they might be. I suppose they're good for apple pie, though... and gosh, I wish I had some now.

Are You an Indoor or Outdoor Person?

You are equally comfortable indoors and outdoors - and you prefer a good mix of both.
You are fun loving and open to lots of activities. You are always up for trying something new.

Maybe you'll hike in the morning, read in the afternoon, swim after dinner, and take in a movie at night!
While you have a broad range of interests, you may have trouble turning these interests into passions. You're the type of person who likes to dabble.

This one rather threw me, because I thought I was much more indoor than this. I enjoy walking to places, but I don't go out of my way to take hikes. I don't care for garden work, but I'd do it if I got to grow food. I don't like being in the sun, but an awning is enough as a shield. I don't get panic attacks when there aren't walls around me, nor cabin fever in three days. I guess my Greek heritage, and the much more open-air lifestyle I grew up in (open air cinemas = win!) has skewed my perceptions here...

What Should Be on Your Bucket List?

You may not feel like you could write a book, but you actually have a lot to say. Just let it flow!
You already live in your own little world. You may as well introduce everyone else to it.

It's likely that you feel like you have a lot of baggage you'd like to unload, and writing can be cathartic.
By writing a book, you would feel a huge sense of accomplishment. And you'd have a legacy to leave behind.

That's another gigglefit. Isn't this precisely what I've been doing for three weeks now, and I've done three more times? At a stretch, even my roleplaying is writing fiction, of the collaborative kind. So yes, I've written books, and I'm going to write more, but perhaps what I should focus on is getting myself published. I know the cathartic power of writing all too well, and the only thing that keeps me going with the NaNo when the going gets tough (which has been getting tougher recently) is the sense of accomplishment at the end, even if my story is ineditable.

I think I should lay off reading Natural Health and Kindred Spirit, and start buying some writing magazine, or get myself a copy of the Writers' Manual and start checking out the market.

Is Your Soul Hippie, Punk, or Goth?

You are complicated, and it would be oversimplifying to say you're obsessed with death.
You are attracted to the darker side of life, but you're also deeply spiritual.

You are curious with the world, and you're probably quite intellectual. You like to study obscure topics.
You are likely quite introverted and quiet. You prefer your own world to the world around you.

There it is, the final blow to the image of gothsters as gloomy, death-obsessed good-for-nothings. I don't look goth, and I wouldn't claim to be one, at least on the outside. Black velvet and lace are beautiful, but not practical for a toddler's stay-at-home mama. (Though I might just spook out the other mamas in playground, when Spawn goes to school, hmmmm...) Smoky eyes are sexy, sultry, perfect... but I'd end up with raccoon eyes within a couple of hours - makeup hates me. I'm too old to frequent goth clubs, even if we had any around here.

On the inside, though... I do listen to old classic goth music (with a preference for metallic or ethereal, though I do industrial and darkwave as well, if the mood strikes) and I know my Gothic novels, capitalised. I love candlelight, play philosophical RPGs like M:tA, explore the more obscure aspects of sexuality and spirituality... and still appreciate a good belly laugh. Embracing the dark does not mean forsaking the light. On the contrary, one needs both to be whole. Whatever colours rule their wardrobe.

Are You Even or Odd?

You are an easy going person who is both even-tempered and even-keeled.
You value stability above all else, and change can be a bit hard for you.

You are compassionate and understanding. You want everyone to feel included.
You tend to shy away from anything you don't understand and know. Embrace your odd side every once and a while!

Guilty as charged. I crave stability, security, and a framework for my life. Not routine, mind you. I don't trace the same patterns every day, don't wear grooves on the floor through going along the same lines all the time. But I'm not good at handling change, and surprises, even pleasant ones, rattle me. I'm one who sticks out by nature - I don't need to be so by circumstance as well!

The Bookstore Test

You are a true ideas person. No concept is too far out for you.

You are constantly looking to improve yourself. You don't think you have all the answers.

Art excites you. You try to bring it into your everyday life as much as possible.

You have a few key interests that are borderline obsessions. You can't stop thinking about them!

The only way this quiz would have been off the mark would have been claiming I don't like books, or bookstores. I'm actually obsessed with both. I can't stop buying books (I'd rather buy one or more when I can spare some money, instead of clothes, makeup, or funding outings), and that's what makes my to-read pile grow taller and taller - it would be up to the ceiling by now, if I stacked them all one on top of the other... in more than one column, too. Bookstores are big lures, and no job would satisfy me more than working in one. Stacking shelves is stacking shelves, wherever you are, but doing that same thing in Sainsbury's and Waterstones are worlds apart, in my opinion.

So yes, read on, and that is exactly what I plan to do as soon as the writing is done. For the rest of the winter.

Are You French Fries or Onion Rings?

You are funky and full of flavor. You definitely have a strong personality.
You are willing to take risks and fall flat on your face. You rarely do fail though.

You have a knack for what works. Everyone but you is surprised by your results.
You are always yourself, even though you're a bit quirky and offbeat. You wouldn't know how to be anyone else.

Okay, this result actually surprised me. Mostly because I couldn't figure it out from the questions; they seemed to want to compare a sweet and a savoury flavour.

That said, it's very accurate - apart from the fact that I like fries every bit as much as onion rings, if not more. I'm well known for offbeat methods that work (some of them for me only, and cannot be duplicated by others, for some reason). I'm not really into the thrill of risk taking, but hey, nothing ventured, nothing won, right? Have to keep that in mind for the rest of the month...

What's True About You?

To say you're weird would be a complete understatement. You're definitely one of a kind.
You have some interesting theories on life... so interesting that they freak other people out.

It's likely that you're into arcane topics of all sorts. You like unusual facts.
You are operating at a whole other wavelength. Very few people truly get you.

I don't think I'm wacky enough to frighten people, but to weird them out... definitely. Perhaps that's why I've never been among the popular crew. My interests can be offbeat - or off the wall, depending on how mainstream you are. Arcane topics? Yes, please. They're not all occult, of course, but it's my inability to stay on the surface that makes it hard for a lot of amateurs to follow me. When I get interested in something, I dig for China, and end up having to enjoy my deep research alone or with few aficionados out there. Not that I mind. There's plenty to enjoy with others; I don't have to parade my deepest interests too.

What Color Would Help You Right Now?

Your life is probably a lot more chaotic and stressful than you'd like it to be.
At times, you feel like you're spinning out of control. And gaining control is actually easier than you might think.

Tap into some blue energy by finding calm and serenity every day.
You have the inner peace and strength you seek. You just need to find it.

Serenity in the middle of the NaNo? Yeah, I wish. No, really, I do wish. But that's nowhere to be found while I'm a couple of days' worth of wordcount behind and my family aren't being supportive.

Grumpy is very stressed out at work recently, and I can sympathise, but it feels like it's going on forever, and I'm grumbled at if I stay late to write, or if I neglect house duties. That's not fair. I cook, wash up, do laundry, take full care of Spawn, all because Nobody. Else. Will. Volunteer. And I write on top of everything else. Of course I'm going to be tired and snappish and stressed and not quite up to par. If the others would haul their asses off the sofa for a few minutes a day and a couple of hours of a weekend, none of all this would be the case. But the lady of the house is worse than the hired help: there's no wage, no time off, no sick leave.

I'm not giving in to the attempts at guilt-tripping, but that's not doing anything for my stress levels, and I want out.

The Taco Test

You are light hearted and fun loving. You look forward to each new day.

You are easy going and happy. You enjoy everything in life.

You are a person of complex taste. You like how different elements go together.

No one would describe you as hot-headed. You maintain your cool no matter what.

I haven't had a taco in at least seven years. Back then, when I used to frequent a gaming club that organised V:tM LARP sessions every Friday evening, it was a common arrangement, after the game wrapped for the night, at midnight, to pile up in two or three cars, depending on how many of us could manage, and head off to a favourite place in Glyfada for a late supper. Despite the place's English name and decor and Eastern European staff, their strongest culinary suit was Mexican food, and most of the times I would get their chicken taco. A wonderful platter it was, too.

Then, of course, I stopped playing, the club semi-disbanded, and eventually I moved country... I haven't been back since, and I haven't had anything Mexican anywhere else. Dammit, I crave tacos now... Oh, just on the side, I'm very happy at what my favourite chicken and sour cream medium hot soft corn tacos mean about me, so there.

Are You Warm or Cool?

You are calm and collected. You don't make much of a fuss - in fact, no one can tell when you're excited.
You are not very emotive and expressive. You tend to temper any feelings with logic and rationality.

You are steady and consistent. You are a person of your word, and you like to keep to a schedule.
Your energy tends to be at the same level throughout the day. You know how to pace yourself.

Another quiz that colour-codes personality. I do like cool colours best, perhaps because they tend to look better on me. (If you are familiar with the four seasons approach to styling, I'm a typical Winter.) I find myself appreciating some warm colours, like orange and yellow, more in recent years. Perhaps that has to do with my 'emotive' state... or just my creativity practice?

What's Your Life Challenge?

You are an idea person, and you often become obsessed with your grand theories.
No doubt about it, you are quite brilliant and insightful. People should listen to you.

However, you get a bit annoyed when others don't agree with everything you say. You like to be the expert.
Open up a bit to other opinions and points of view. Even a brainiac like you can be wrong once in a while.

I don't usually bother with quizzes like this, where I only need to put in an element (usually my name, or my birthdate, in the particular case). They seem predetermined by something I have no control over, not to mention arbitrary. I like to see what my choices say about me, not my fixed elements.

Plus, quizzes like this particular one make me doubt that English is the first language of the people who create (or proofread) them. My challenge is being bossy? Considering the context, that should be 'being less bossy'. The assessment is valid, but that howler takes out most of its credibility.

How Do You Feel About the World?

You are a very kindhearted person, and you are definitely concerned about the world.
At times, you feel like you have to take a break from caring... you get overwhelmed by your emotions.

You may not do the most charity work, but it doesn't mean you don't notice all of the problems around you.
Just continue to do what you can. Our planet needs more people like you - that's for sure.

It's Children in Need season again; I'm not exactly sure when the telethon is, but it's charitable endeavour time for sure, in time for Christmas. In Greece, Goody's and Hamogelo will be preparing this year's fundraiser as well; I wonder if Mama will think of getting a bear for Spawn.

As for me, I'm torn because I can't give all the money and time I'd like to, for those unhappy to be less so. Does that make me something of a Victorian philanthropist?

The Retro Pattern Test

You are a very broad minded person. You try to avoid judging or even having expectations.
You'll say yes to almost anything, and as a result, you tend to live a pretty wild and crazy life.

You are a colorful person with a lot of good stories to tell. You are definitely not a wallflower!
You have a wicked sense of humor, and you're amazingly funny. You get people laughing in no time.

I'm quite sure this is a way off, mostly because I couldn't pick a single pattern. It was either the shapes or the colours; there was no single option where I liked both.

The humour part is accurate, but I'm not nearly as much of an entertainer as it suggests. The only reason I'm not (always) a wallflower is because I have my little circle, instead of going off by myself. My adventuring is done mainly in the mind, and I can't say I regret that too much.

The Cafe Test

During your downtime, you like to develop ideas and work on creative projects.

You secretly wish that you could be a more successful person. Being rich is a dream of yours.

You are realistic about the world. You may have challenges that come your way, but you can overcome them.

You are inspired by high energy. Being around other creative, productive people really motivates you.

1. Spot on. I wouldn't be doing NaNo otherwise now, would I?

2. Spot on as well, unfortunately. People into 'success coaching' mumbo-jumbo call it 'poverty mentality'. I call it bloody insecurity. Even before I had to count pennies, as I'm literally doing right now, I never had enough money, my definition of 'enough' being 'enough not to worry during the second half of the month'. I want to be comfortable for once, goshdarnit! Being deprived of professional achievements isn't helping, either.

3. I'm not competitive, but I thrive on challenge. I'm not a bottom feeder. What's the point in doing anything if you're not going to improve, and you can't improve if you don't push your limits.

4. Solitary as I am, my motivation does come from people. Other people. That's why I've always felt much better in a class than alone (or with one tutor - funny how, when I'm the one tutoring, one on one is the best setting possible).

What Alice in Wonderland Character Are You?

To call you passionate would be a total understatement. You have quite a temper. You put fear into the hearts of everyone you know.
You are easy to make angry, and once you're angry, you may do or say anything. You love vengeance.

You don't like to be crossed. And while you can't say "Off with their heads!" when people make you mad, you wish you could!
There are a couple hobbies you're passionate about (perhaps croquet?), but even those can be sullied by the stupidity of others.

Oh, noes, I'm a complete and utter bitch! *gigglefits* Seriously, I don't know. My favourite Wonderland character has always been the Caterpillar, and even the Duchess has intrigued me (though I'm not sure I'd want to be like her...). But yeah, the result is basically accurate. I don't have much tolerance for stupidity, although it can amuse me - when not affecting me directly. I'm easy to get angry, but I doubt I'm intimidating enough. Le sigh. Thank goodness my hobbies are rather solitary, and thus not prone to spoiling by others. Unless those others don't leave me bloody time for them!

What Type of Beer Are You?

You are hip, well educated, and a bit of a beer snob. It's likely that you live in (or at least drink in) the city.
You won't drink just anything, though you are somewhat adventurous about trying new beers. You consider yourself a beer aficionado.

You are concerned with how you look and how you seem. People admire you, and you enjoy being well thought of.
You are a social drinker and rarely drink alone. You feel more at home in a cozy pub than in your own home.

I don't like beer, plain and simple. Why did I take this quiz, then? Curiosity, pure and simple. Sometimes accurate insights come from the unlikeliest sources. This is one of those times.

I've never even tried Guinness, but I'm intrigued by the black stuff. Generally, if I replace 'beer' with 'wine', this would be spot on. I'm an unsociable person who makes a very sociable drinker (booze does make me open up, teehee). I wouldn't go as far as calling myself a snob, but picky I am, and my pickiness has to do with what I do like, not what I should like.

'Tis the season to pick a few new bottles to enjoy - moderately - after dinner...

What Popular Career Are You?

Even if you can't play a single instrument, you're a total rebel and creative type.
You couldn't imagine yourself with a corporate job, and you couldn't imagine having a boss.

You are expressive, original, and often times a bit moody. You are very real about who you are and what you're feeling.
You tend to get in trouble a lot. You have a total bad girl or bad boy attitude, and you just always seem to be landing in hot water!

I used to dream about being a rock star (what kid hasn't?), but then life got in the way. I realise now that I wanted stardom for all the reasons cited in this assessment, but, given that I wouldn't be able to write my own material, I'd end up more dependent on others than I'd like. Though I wouldn't mind a bit of a side career... being able to bring an album out every few years, without having to sell enough to fund the next one, or tour, or deal with the vagaries of fame (which wouldn't be there). I suppose I've moved my focus from the 'star' to the 'rock' part.

The Teapot Test

You believe in moderation, and you're pretty good at practicing it too. You avoid all extremes.
You try to live a sustainable life. You believe in conserving both your energy and your resources.

You're the type of person who puts a pot of tea on when you need some energy. You don't depend on it, but it gives you a boost.
Your signature tea: green tea - any and all kinds

This result is scarily accurate. I'm not sure if it's scarier because it's so to the point or because it has inferred as much out of my simple choice of a round teapot.

I like green tea, preferably neat, although the jasmine- or lemon-flavoured ones have their moments as well (after all, my choice of black tea, which is not my cuppa really, is Lady Grey). I find tea a more contemplative beverage than coffee; it clears my mind in a low-fizz way, refreshing, but not adding to my energy levels. I don't think I'd be able to switch to tea instead of coffee in the morning, but tea is just the thing for later in the day, from lunchtime onwards. I like enjoying it alone, slowly - my tea is not sociable. Which, essentially, makes it ideal for long bouts of working on the computer...
